We have one of the first Basalte Core Plus KNX servers worldwide in our test and present the main changes compared to the Basalte Core S4 server. But first the question: Why does Basalte need a new KNX server now, when the “predecessor” Basalte Core S4 has only been on the market since 2018?

Successor: Basalte Core S4 is followed by Basalte Core Plus

The answer is clear: problems with chip suppliers have resulted in the Basalte headquarters in Merelbeke (Belgium) opting for a new circuit board layout. As a result, the new features of the smaller Basalte Core Mini, such as the “Matter” smart home wireless standard, have been integrated together with the beam antenna (as it is called internally).
